A Year In My Life.... Weeks 2 & 3

Day 8

It snowed alot today.
I snapped this shot as Nico was glued to the window watching the flakes fall.

Day 9:
Today, Nico started his Youth Sports Program at the YMCA. Originally, he was signed up for Soccer and Hockey, and he was really excited to be trying hockey for the first time. Sadly, there wasn;t enough interest in either one so everyone who was signed up for them had the option of moving to the youth sports program or getting a refund. We opted for the youth sports and it was a good decision. Today they did an obstacle course, races, and played with the parachute. Nico had a blast! He fell asleep still wearing his nametag on his shirt. Of course, they spelled his name incorrectly, but who cares LOL.

Day 10
After work today, Nico and I went shopping so he could spend his Christmas money. He had his heart set on the movie Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs and a Toy Story snuggie. We found the DVD but Toys R Us didn't have the snuggie anymore. They still had the princess snuggie, but surprisingly he didn't want that one LOL. Considering how much he likes the color pink, I was actually really surprised when he shot me a pleading look and said "Mom, please don't buy me the princess snuggie!" LOL SO we came home with his DVD, as well as the Cars board game and a Tom & Jerry DVD and he was so proud to have bought them with his own money. Mimi found the snuggie on Ebay and it will be arriving later this week. I snapped this picture on my cell phone while we were snuggling on the couch watching "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" and having a snack.

Day 11

So Nico was sitting on the toilet today writing in his notebook when he asked me how to spell poop. I told him, and he wrote it down. Then he said "Well, I can cross that off my list" and put an "X" next to it! haha (Poop is at the top of the list with 3 x's before it and another x after it, I guess he did alot of pooping at school or something LOL) He then added "eat dinner" and "soccer" (spelled with a backwards "S") to his list. Atleast he has his priorities in order lol

Day 12
Yes, that is Nico shooting underwear at me. They were clean, though =0)

Day 13
I was at school all day, then work all night, so by the time I got home it was dark and everyone was in bed and I was tired so I just snapped a quick picture of Nico sleeping. Pretty much a total cop out, but I'm ok with that.

Day 14

The Toy Story snuggie arrived and Nico is in love! I am pretty sure he is the cutest kid ever! LOL

Day 16

Yep, you saw that correctly, I skipped number 15. That is because, yet again, I missed a day. So far I will only have 362 pictures for my 365 collection, and its only January! lol Anways, today was a busy Saturday. I finally caved and got Nico's haircut for the first time since late August. It was super long but it didn;t look like the cool, shaggy, surfer style hair do I was going for. Instead, he just looked scruffy and unkept lol. I must admit, his short hair looks great and I'm really glad that i gave up and cut it. I wish I'd have done it sooner.

Day 17

I decided to do something different and go for an object for today's picture instead of a person. I love the garage area of The Children's Museum, with the cool signs and brick walls. Its such a cool, grungy, room.

A year in my life... Week 1

I have decided to do a 365 photo journal this year, so everyday I will take atleast one picture of something, anything, everyday for the whole year, and post it here. I am already a bit behind and we are only 12 days into the new year, but that is pretty typical for me...

Day 1: New Years Eve
S, Kaitlyn, Jena, and I got together at S's place to ring in the new year. It was a good time. Nico rang in the new year at noon on New Years Eve with his favorite hosts and characters on Sprout. They did a really cute little NYE show on Sprout, complete with a countdown to noon instead of midnight. He and I toasted with sparkling grape juice out of champagne glasses and he thought that was super cool!

Day 2:
Today Nico had his final soccer game for this session. He played well and was thrilled to receive a medal and a snack after the game. He has worn that medal everyday since he got it, and has accidentally broken it twice LOL. He's very proud of it though. The new session of soccer was supposed to start the following Saturday, and he was excited. He had even decided to try hockey too, so he was signed up for both. Unfortunately, the YMCA called me on Wednesday and told me that there hadn; been enough interest in any of the youth sports for his age range so instead they were combining all the participants for a sports & fitness medley. Each week they will try a different activity, so that should be fun.

Day 3:

Knowing that I have been working alot over Christmas break, and that I would be starting to student teach (while continuing to work nights and weekends) on Monday, I decided to do something fun with Nico on Sunday after work so we went to Chuck E. Cheese. My favorite part was, as always, the delicious cardboard pizza that I am so obsessed with, but Nico really enjoyed skee ball. With no help from me, he scored 210,00 points in one game. He was getting the ball way up in the 40,00 and 50,00 holes and was really proud of himself. We spent the better part of the night in front of the skee ball games, dropping token after token into the coin slot. Of course, his hard work was rewarded with tickets which he cashed in for a bunch of junk that he can't find a week later, but thats part of the fun of CEC. I tried to encourage him to save his tickets for the next time and explained that he would have more tickets that way and could, therefore, get cooler stuff, but he told me that the stuff he was going to get (a plastic frog, a sheet of stickers, and 2 laffy taffies) was really cool. Apparantly our definitions of cool differ greatly! LOL

Day 4:

Today was my first day of student teaching! How the heck did that happen? I seriously wondered if i wold ever get to this point and now, here I am! Anyway, I really loved my bright green cardigan that I wore today so I snapped a quick (and really unflattering) pic after I got home from work (I worked 5-10 after being at school all day...it was rough but I am getting used to it now). Kaitlyn was with me when I bought it, and she made me try it on because I loved it on the table but figured it wouldn't look right on me. Instead, I tried it on and fell in love, so thanks Kait! LOL

Day 5 & 6: I didn;t even make it a week before I forgot to take some pictures, so I ended up missing days 5 and 6, but I am pretty sure nothing exciting happened LOL.

Day 7:
Nico has learned to read simple words and phrases. We have been wirintg words on his aquadoodle and having him sound them out, playing games on his Super Speller Board with his Tag Rader, and his favorite activity, word building with index cards. It took 5 minutes to write a different letter on each index card (all of the vowels are one color and the consonants are a different color so he knows that he has atleast one vowel in the word) and he has loved using the letters to form words. We like to start with one word, like cat, for example, and then switch out one letter (change the "c" to a "p" for instance) and see what it makes. I'm so proud of my little reader!
So there you have it, the first 7 days of 2010 in the Colaizzi household. Yes, I realize that I am still 5 days behind, but I need to actually go get some work done before bed tonight. Hopefully I can get caught up tomorrow.
